My life is a cluster

I had a great night hanging out with some friends for a happy hour. Oh yeah . . . the theme for said happy hour might have been: Farewell, Kelly. But I'm in denial, so it was just drinks with friends. ;) Regardless, it was great to just chill, have a drink and a burger, and laugh with friends, while continuing to be in denial that in 4 days I will be packing up my life and driving to start over in the lovely town of Madison, WI.

And so I came home, and decided to try to be productive, as I might have a few things to do. I have no less than ten to-do lists started. They range in title from a general "to do before I leave" to "things to pack in my carry-on for South Africa", which is of course different than "things to take to South Africa" or the "things to buy for my South Africa trip" (much sunscreen, in case you're wondering). In the last hour, however, I have started 3 new lists, and added to at least 4 others. The newest, and my favorite, is "things I can get my friends to help me with before I leave." I mean, "stuff I need people to help me with because I might be a little overwhelemed by life right now."

In addition to adding to the list of lists, I have also, in no particular order, in the last hour:

1. Brought up old suitcase from the basement. "Winter" clothes will be packed in here, which will be packed in the car, to take to Wisconsin. (This is an other list - "stuff to take in the car" - it would be less-than-to good to pack my passport into the semi truck that is taking most of my belongings to a storage facility for the next month or so). But I digress.
2. Set up this suitcase next to the new suitcase (which I have had to recently research and buy, because said other suitcase is literally falling apart and can no longer be trusted on an airplane) on my bedroom floor so I can start packing.
3. Decided that I wanted to pack cute sundress for South Africa, as it will be summer. Hooray! Oh, wait. the hem is coming out in the back of this dress, and I have no desire to drag it around on the ground, but it's quite comfy, and will definitely need to bring to the motherland. Hmmm.
4. Back down to the craft room, to get iron-on adhesive to hem dress.
5. Plug in iron.
6. Started another piece of luggage for shoes to take to Wisconsin. Already have too many, but can't cut down. Yet.
7. Chose cute sandals to take to South Africa. Currently have 5 pairs in new luggage. Am going for eleven days. Three of those I will be in a plane. And will be wearing running shoes, which will not be packed, as I will wear these for my drive.
8. Wondered if I am bringing too many shoes for both "trips". Decided yes . . . but will, in fact, NOT be slimming down. Yet.
9. Added a few more items to to-do lists.
10. Sent a few texts to friend.
11. Listening to new glee cd. Decided I'm not a fan of Rocky Horror songs. But love the rest.
12. Thought this might be a great blog topic.
13. Ironed hem of dress.
14. Added "Christmas cards" to list of items to take in car.
15. Brought bag of christmas cards up from craft room.
16. Laughed at ridiculousness of my life.
17. Filled travel containers with shampoo and conditioner. Perhaps this should be on list of things friends could do for me? Too late.
18. Decided to take a mental break. And write a little blog note. Which is clearly getting ridiculously long. As are my freaking lists.

So. . . that's been the last hour or so. Who knows what else will get accomplished. Back to the lists. ...

**19. Read through blog to look for typos. Decided to muck around with font colors of to-do lists. Obviously, an item of high importance.
20. Am clearly freak of nature. But at least am honest with myself. :)

Frazzled

Tonight I decided to ignore everything on my to-do list, and spend the evening becoming reacquainted with my couch. Before I left work I checked to see what dvd's were in my local redbox, thinking I might watch a movie. Or maybe even two! I found a couple that I thought would be a good combination for the evening, and reserved myself two movies. Hooray!

And then I got home. And made myself some dinner, and went to pick one of the two movies to watch first. Except they were both the same. I had rented the same movie. Twice. In the same night. And didn't notice until I was home, 30 minutes later. Good job!

Perhaps I need more sleep.
